FAQs

  • What subjects are covered in Apologia’s 3rd grade homeschool curriculum?

Apologia’s 3rd-grade homeschool curriculum includes core subjects such as math, science, and Bible. Each course is rooted in a Biblical worldview, helping students grow academically and spiritually.

  • Is Apologia’s 3rd grade curriculum a Christian curriculum?

Yes. Apologia offers a Christian 3rd-grade homeschool curriculum that integrates Scripture and biblical truth into every subject. It is designed to strengthen your child’s faith while building a solid academic foundation.

  • Can I use the 3rd grade Christian homeschool curriculum with more than one child?

Yes! Apologia’s science curriculum is designed to be flexible and engaging for multiple ages, making it ideal for homeschooling families with children at different grade levels. Our elementary science curriculum uses a conversational approach and hands-on activities that can easily adapt to different learning abilities. Older students can dive deeper into concepts, while younger ones enjoy foundational learning, allowing the whole family to explore science together.

  • Is this curriculum suitable for first-time homeschoolers?

Absolutely! Apologia’s 3rd grade curriculum is designed to be parent-friendly, open-and-go, and easy to follow, even for those new to homeschooling. It provides structured guidance and engaging lessons that make learning enjoyable for both parent and child.

  • How much time does the 3rd grade homeschool curriculum take each day?

Most families spend about 1-2 hours per day using Apologia’s 3rd-grade Christian homeschool curriculum. The schedule is flexible, allowing you to pace lessons according to your child’s needs and your family routine.

  • Does Apologia Math correspond to specific Apologia Science courses?

While we have designed each level of Apologia elementary math to share some aspect of a design theme with a title from Apologia’s science Young Explorer Series, each math and science course can be completed separately.

For example, Level 3 mathematics has flying creatures design theme, and graphics throughout the book include birds, bats, and butterflies. A few hands-on activities also have a zoology theme.

Apologia chose the design connections to help your student see the connections between abstract mathematical concepts and the real world.

  • Should we do the elementary science books in a particular order?

No, and that’s the beauty of the Young Explorer Series. We recommend starting with the topic that you and your students believe is most interesting right now. You can view the sample first lesson of each elementary science title to explore them in more depth before making a choice.

Some parents find that teaching more complicated courses, such as Earth Science, Anatomy and Physiology, and Chemistry and Physics, is best reserved for upper elementary students.

We offer a curriculum path chart as one possible course sequence for elementary science.

  • Can 3rd grade students complete their science lessons independently?

Typically, 3rd grade students can read the textbook independently or listen to the audiobook version and complete notebook assignments independently.

Some hands-on activities may require adult supervision to setup.
